OUR WORK

OUR WORK

Southpaw Company creates large-scale dance theatre rooted in the lived experiences of working-class and marginalised communities.

For over a decade we have worked alongside communities to create ambitious performances that blend choreography, music, digital storytelling and mass participation. From large-scale outdoor spectacles and immersive experiences to mixed reality performance, our work seeks to find the beauty, strength and resilience within communities too often defined by deficit.

Every project begins with listening. Through conversation, collaboration and co-creation, we transform lived experience into powerful shared experiences, creating work that audiences recognise as “that’s me”. Whether working with hundreds of community performers in a city square or exploring new forms of storytelling through emerging technologies, our aim remains the same: to make people visible, celebrate place and bring communities together through movement.

This reel captures a snapshot of that journey. It features work created with thousands of participants, artists, collaborators and audiences across the UK and beyond. Their stories, generosity and creativity have shaped everything we do.

Today, Southpaw stands at the intersection of large-scale performance, community participation and immersive technology. As we continue to explore new artistic forms, from projection mapping and responsive environments to mixed reality storytelling, we remain committed to the principles that have guided us from the beginning: truth, collaboration, radical empathy and the belief that movement can change how people see themselves, each other and the world around them.

Action Speaks. Join the Movement.
