AURA

Aura is a new outdoor dance piece created by Southpaw Dance Company, blending innovative technology with powerful choreography to explore the invisible threads that connect us. Using responsive projection mapping and movement responsive sound, dancers interact with light and movement to depict the concept of human energy fields, or “AURAS,” and how these unseen forces influence our relationships with one another and the world around us.

Set against a backdrop of vibrant visuals and emotive music, Aura delves into themes of interconnectedness, empathy, and the human condition. It examines the delicate balance between isolation and connection, inviting audiences to reflect on how every action and emotion has a ripple effect on the larger collective.

Between Performances, audience were invited to participate in the beautiful responsive projection visuals designed by Paul Trickett, bringing people together in a beautiful and profound exploration of connection.

Collaborations:

In bringing this ambitious project to life, Southpaw Dance Company partnered with DanceFest and Light Night Worcester to integrate advanced technology and projection techniques, creating an unforgettable experience. The cast was composed of 3 company dancers plus 25 participants local to Worcester. The production features custom music compositions and cutting-edge visual design to amplify the audience’s emotional and sensory engagement.
